This presentation discusses the importance of detailing the building to prevent serious water issues in the envelope of a building.
Upon completion of this course, the Learner should be able to:
Understand the importance of choosing the proper flashing and other important masonry installation strategies to manage moisture in a masonry wall.
Learn the advantages of complete masonry systems which address important issues including energy performance and fire resistance. Proper detailing of these systems will be discussed which will show the ability to mitigate water penetration and provide backup moisture management.
Learn about the importance of including an integral water repellent admixture in the concrete block and mortar to provide a belt and suspender approach to moisture mitigation.
Specify a masonry solution that delivers superior moisture control and an environmentally sound structure.
