New technology and improvements in masonry veneer installation can help your team save time and money in the construction process while providing superior results. In this course, you'll learn how cutting-edge technology is helping masons move beyond traditional lath and scratch and be introduced to the principles behind enhanced masonry veneer installation systems (EMVIS). Learn how to create permanent, high-strength installations for residential, commercial, and industrial applications using EMVIS with fortified mortars and innovative waterproofing barrier membranes that protect against air and water penetration.

Upon completion of this course, the Learner should be able to:

  • Discuss the traditional lath and scratch installation process and the common problems that can arise, leading to costly repairs or failure of the system.
  • Describe the components of an enhanced masonry veneer installation system that combine to deliver higher performance levels, freeze–thaw stability, and greater value to interior and exterior applications.
  • Explain the installation efficiencies of enhanced performance installation systems for thin adhered masonry veneers that result in savings of time, money, and materials.
  • Contrast the costs between the traditional method for attaching masonry products to building envelope substrates and an EMVIS.
  • State the standards used to evaluate the performance of EMVIS products, including National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 285, Miami Dade TAS testing, and ASTM E1354 and ASTM E84.

Approximately 1 hour. Delivered online, at your own pace.
