Water management is a complex and significant process affecting all levels of planning and building design and is tasked with solving a number of new and emerging issues. This course reviews current stormwater and wastewater management issues and current practices and then takes a look at a number of new and emerging issues that water management plans need to address.

Upon completion of this course, the Learner should be able to:

  • Recall current stormwater issues and describe a number of current low-impact development practices to mitigate environmental damage from stormwater.
  • Describe a number of conservation and wastewater management practices that can be incorporated into building design.
  • Recall emerging water management issues related to climate change.
  • Describe the Okotoks, Alberta, water management solution that links growth to its water supply.
