Megatrends are long-term global trends that impact societies in complex ways, including design of the built environment. This course examines seven megatrends and how they may inspire kitchen and bath designers to create accessible, diverse, and sustainable solutions to the social and environmental issues our society faces.

Upon completion of this course, the Learner should be able to:

  • Describe seven global megatrends that impact the design of the built environment, including health and wellness, the circular economy, green building initiatives, and climate change and sustainability.
  • Explain how architecture and design professionals can lean into and address these megatrends through their design practices.
  • Describe how architects and designers can use their practices to influence end user behaviors to improve their well-being, avoid greenwashing, and reduce the environmental impact of kitchen and bath projects.
  • Apply knowledge of these megatrends to create more sustainable product specifications
