Science of Insulated Metal Panels

Science of Insulated Metal Panels

Over the past 50 years, Insulated Metal Panels have been used on tens of thousands of projects worldwide, adding aesthetic value to architectural design intent while also acting as a reliable water, air, vapor and thermal control layer for the exterior building envelope. In this course, we will examine the building science, fire science and engineering considerations of building with insulated metal panels. We will discuss the standardized test methods used to determine performance of insulated metal panels in commercial construction applications, and the relative performance of alternative construction methods.

Upon completion of this course, the Learner should be able to:

  • Understand the fundamental science concepts used to develop engineering and construction practices to build safe, energy efficient and resilient structures.
  • Explore the testing methods and criteria used on building materials for US Code Compliance as well as other important standardized methods and criteria used to assess building product performance in critical assemblies.
  • Evaluate the test data for insulated metal panels as water, air, vapor and thermal control layers in exterior wall assemblies.
  • Compare relative performance of insulated metal panels against alternative assemblies in current use in the built environment.

Approximately 1 hour. Delivered via webinar or face-to-face presentation. Available sessions shown below.
