Modular Masonry Fireplace Systems: Design for Health and Safety

Modular masonry fireplace systems are lightweight and durable, and they have many flexible design options that meet all health and safety requirements. This course introduces the modular masonry fireplace and reviews the requirements and components needed for installing a safe, durable, and code-compliant fireplace system.

Upon completion of this course, the Learner should be able to:

  • Recall the benefits of pumice stone in modular fireplaces, including its heat resistance, light weight, and durability.
  • Design modular fireplaces for safe installation on both combustible and noncombustible flooring.
  • Recall prefabricated chimney and flue options that meet sizing and code requirements.
  • Determine the ventilation classification and specify necessary fireplace ventilation accessories to support health and safety.
