Universal Plumbing Design for Modern Healthcare

This course examines how plumbing design contributes to safe, accessible, and adaptable healthcare environments. Participants will explore design strategies that support infection prevention, behavioral healthcare, and diverse patient needs through the application of universal design principles, ADA requirements, and specialized plumbing solutions. The course also reviews fixture and system considerations that help improve patient safety, support healthcare operations, and create more effective care environments.

Upon completion of this course, the Learner should be able to:

  • Explain how plumbing design can help reduce healthcare-associated infections and support patient safety.
  • Evaluate healthcare plumbing products based on infection control and performance requirements.
  • Identify plumbing fixture design considerations for ADA, bariatric, and behavioral healthcare environments.
