They offer a reliable, easily installed alternative to traditional and tiled shower floors. This course explores the evolution of shower floors, engineered shower base types, and their material options. The course also examines shower styles and dimensions, code requirements, and space-planning best practices to support safe and inclusive bathing-space design. Key market influences and sustainable material choices are also discussed.

Upon completion of this course, the Learner should be able to:

Differentiate between traditional shower floors, shower pans, and engineered one‑piece shower bases, including their functions and installation roles.
Identify key shower base materials and explain how composition influences durability, maintenance, slip resistance, and long‑term performance.
Apply space‑planning best practices, including standard shower dimensions, threshold types, drain placement, and accessibility requirements.
Evaluate how engineered shower bases support safe, durable, and code‑compliant bathing-space design across residential, commercial, and care facilities.
