Using Polyisocyanurate Insulation in Concrete and CMU Mass Wall Design
This course is designed to provide an understanding the importance of continuous insulation relative to mass wall of Concrete and CMU, and how the continuous insulation can help leverage the mass wall properties to stabilize the building environment. In addition, we will address how specific types of continuous insulation can function as the Air and Water Resistive Barrier System, leading to better indoor environment.
Upon completion of this course, the Learner should be able to:
Learn about Energy Codes and Standards and how they apply to "Mass Wall" Design.
Discover how POLYISO insulation can contribute to meeting and exceeding Energy Code requirements while incorporating the functions of an Air Barrier and Weather Resistant Barrier.
Learn how a "Mass Wall" of Concrete or CMU can store energy and how that stored energy is able to be utilized to stabilize the indoor environment, during periods when exterior temperatures may rise and fall; leading to lower energy usage.
Learn how the placement of the insulation on the interior or exterior of the "Mass Wall" of Concrete or CMU can influence the performance of the mass wall.
Approximately 1 hour. Delivered via webinar or face-to-face presentation. Available sessions shown below.
