IECC Energy Review and Masonry Compliance

IECC Energy Review and Masonry Compliance

Ensuring compliance with increasingly stringent energy codes is a leading architectural challenge. This course explores the latest edition of the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) with a focus on the building envelope and how to achieve – and exceed – energy performance requirements when building with masonry.

Upon completion of this course, the Learner should be able to:

  • Explain the structure and elements of the IECC and how it relates to other codes and standards.
  • Describe the principles behind continuous insulation (CI) and how it plays a part in addressing energy code compliance.
  • Develop effective specification strategies that incorporate continuous insulation (CI) into masonry wall systems. providing a healthier building.
  • Understand how to analyze the IECC compliance pathways that maximize the architect’s ability to make occupant-centered, total-building design and specification decisions versus those that require a more restrictive approach.
