Discusses automatic sliding door systems and their function and advantage in commercial development applications. IN addition, we will analyze the difference between high and low energy swing door operators, and the requirements for meeting ADA compliance. The participant, at the end of this course will be able to understand the latest technology advancements in the automatic entrance industry; as well as recent code requirements dictated by ANSI 156.10 and 156.19.
Upon completion of this course, the Learner should be able to:
We will review the types and applications of automatic sliding doors, and the differences between the national standards that govern automatic door products.
Introduce and describe the AAADM organization, and its ultimate benefit to Architects and end Users.
Discuss the safety systems incorporated with automatic doors, and become familiar with Activation and Safety Zones. This involves the basic understanding of patterns, sensor types, and uses; as well as required signage.
Examine the difference in automatic swing door operators; including high energy (ANSI 156.10) and low energy (ANSI 156.19). We will also discuss when push plates are required for ADA compliance, and their proper placement per national code. Finally we will look at guide rail systems and their requirements for one and two way traffic patterns.
