Resin-mineral composite is an exceptional building material for exterior applications and embodies the enduring appeal of wood without its challenges. The composition, design options, and performance attributes of resin-mineral composite (RMC) decking and siding are explored. Also discussed are product and manufacturer sustainability, product evaluations, and the range of applications suitable for resin-mineral composite.
Upon completion of this course, the Learner should be able to:
Discuss the benefits of resin-mineral composite, including composition, slip resistance, thermal performance, fire performance, workability, and manufacture, and how they contribute to safe, durable outdoor installations.
Describe the types of resin-mineral composite decking subframes and joist pedestal systems that provide support, durability, ease of installation, and design versatility and ensure long-lasting installations.
Explain sustainability in terms of product impacts and how a manufacturer manages environmental, social, and governance risks.
Summarize the importance of third-party product evaluations and recall the types of tests resin-mineral composite decking and siding products are subject to.
