Designing with Purpose: Multifunction Taps for Cleaner, Greener Living and Working

Designing with Purpose: Multifunction Taps for Cleaner, Greener Living and Working

This course explores how multifunction tap systems provide filtered boiling, chilled, and sparkling water from a single, energy-efficient fixture. Participants will examine U.S. drinking water sources and treatment processes, review environmental challenges such as plastic waste and energy consumption, and analyze how multifunction taps support sustainability and occupant well-being. Case studies from residential, commercial, and healthcare settings demonstrate how these systems enhance safety, improve hydration, and contribute to healthier, design-conscious environments.

Upon completion of this course, the Learner should be able to:

  • Identify the primary sources of drinking water in the U.S. and examine associated environmental challenges and regulatory standards that affect public health and safety.
  • Investigate how multifunction tap systems enhance occupant safety and hygiene through features such as touch-free operation, steam-free boiling delivery, and safety locks.
  • Discuss how multifunction taps promote sustainability by reducing single-use plastic waste, lowering energy and water consumption, and consolidating multiple appliances.
  • Evaluate real-world residential, commercial, and healthcare case studies to assess the design, operational, and user-experience benefits of multifunction tap systems.
