Sustainable Polyethylene for High Performance Outdoor Acoustics

This course includes a discussion about the strengths and weaknesses of polyethylene, the manufacturing process, sound attenuation properties, testing methods, understanding of sound analysis studies and environmental aspects.

Upon completion of this course, the Learner should be able to:

  • Describe the history and chemical make-up of polyethylene, including how it is manufactured
  • List the advantages and disadvantages of wood, vinyl, composite, and concrete.
  • Discuss the attributes and performance characteristics of polyethylene.
  • Summarize the HSW attributes to polyethylene, including: Sound attenuation. Electrical Insulation. Weather Resistance. Low Toxicity smoke emissions. Environmentally beneficial features.
  • Understand the Health & Environmental features of Polyethylene.
  • Discussion of how various ASTM test are performed.
