Rooftop Equipment: Design & Securement

This course provides a framework for understanding the importance of rooftop equipment securement. It reviews current building codes and an industry white paper addressing rooftop securement. This course will visit common practices that are not code compliant and explore solutions that properly secure all rooftop equipment and accessories. It examines the critical need for application appropriate planning, calculating and installation to maintain a watertight commercial roof.

Upon completion of this course, the Learner should be able to:

• Examine rooftop equipment securement requirements in the building code.
• Demonstrate the structural engineering “gap” between a building and its rooftop equipment.
• Observe and compare the commonly used installation practices.
• Recognize roof anchoring systems secure rooftop equipment.
• Maintain a watertight commercial roof with properly secured rooftop equipment.
