EIFS in Modern Building Enclosures: Balancing Performance, Durability, and Design Flexibility
This course examines the role of Exterior Insulation and Finish Systems (EIFS) in supporting building performance, occupant health, and long-term durability. Participants will explore how EIFS integrates critical control layers, air, water, vapor, and thermal, to help mitigate moisture intrusion, improve energy efficiency, and support code compliance. The course will also address how proper design and detailing of EIFS assemblies contribute to safer, more resilient building enclosures while enabling a wide range of architectural aesthetics. The course also examines how facade design strategies contribute to sustainable building practices, including energy efficiency, material optimization, and reduced environmental impact.
