Integrated Site Development

This educational program explores how an integrated approach to site development can improve project outcomes by bringing together planning, engineering, material selection, sustainability, constructability, and long-term asset performance early in the design process. Participants will gain an understanding of how multidisciplinary collaboration can reduce project risk, improve resilience, optimize embodied carbon, and deliver greater value throughout the project lifecycle. The course is intended as an educational resource and does not promote any specific manufacturer, product, or proprietary solution.

Upon completion of this course, the Learner should be able to:

  • Explain the principles of integrated site development and the benefits of early collaboration among owners, architects, engineers, contractors, and material suppliers.
  • Evaluate how material selection influences constructability, durability, resilience, cost, and embodied carbon across site development projects.
  • Identify opportunities to improve environmental and health outcomes through integrated design strategies that reduce embodied carbon while maintaining required performance.
  • Apply a performance-based decision-making framework to balance sustainability, technical requirements, project schedules, budgets, and long-term infrastructure performance
