PVC membranes have been used in roofing systems as a waterproofing material for over 40 years. Starting out as an adhesive to attach rubber to metal sheets, PVC’s production technology quickly advanced, making the product more usable. From fabric coatings to wire insulation to roofing membranes, the uses for PVC continued to evolve. This course discusses the history of PVC and the role PVC, KEE, and KEE HP play in the roofing membrane industry today. Various installation methods are discussed and the benefits of using PVC in roofing systems are examined.

Background: John C. Greko is currently PVC Product Manager for Carlisle Construction Materials and first started in the PVC roofing business in 1982. John majored in Design Engineering at Delta College and has a BBA majoring in Organizational Management from Western Michigan University. During John’s tenure in the PVC roofing industry he was Vice President of Engineering and Quality Assurance for a roofing manufacturer; Faculty Member of RIEI (Roofing Industry Educational Institute); Certified Roofing Instructor in Michigan for BOCA (Building Officials and Code Administrators); Member of ASTM (American Society of Testing and Materials); Board Director for SPRI (Single Ply Roofing Industry); Published white papers and has four (4) patents for products and/or processes.
