Acoustically Enhanced Gypsum Board for High STC Wall Partitions

Acoustically Enhanced Gypsum Board for High STC Wall Partitions

Sound has become more important than ever in building design. Over the years sound transmission in wall partitions has been a difficult issue to resolve. The use of sound resilient metal channels, double stud and staggered stud walls filled with insulation was the design professional's choice. As a result of innovation and a better understanding of acoustics, additional products are now available for the design of high STC wall assemblies.

Upon completion of this course, the Learner should be able to:

  • Review acoustical concepts and terminology such as STC, decibels, hertz, frequency and NRC.
  • Outline STC building code requirements and review STC guidelines for healthcare, HUD and LEED.
  • Learn the different components in sound resistant assemblies and strategies to reduce sound transmission through an assembly.
  • Review STC testing methodologies and how STC relates to acoustical performance of wall assemblies.

Approximately 1 hour. Delivered via webinar or face-to-face presentation. Available sessions shown below.
