FA13 Effective pedestrian design connecting people through multinodal, air and rail transportation hubs to enhance user experience and retail design

Approximately 1 hour 30 minutes

As our urban centers become increasingly dense, the effective movement of large volumes of people through complex spaces requires creative solutions.  Maintaining a positive user experience includes moderating densification, controlling flows of people, identifying and supporting retail strategies while addressing user interfaces such as ticketing, security cues, and fare gates.  This session will outline current approaches to addressing pedestrian planning in complex spaces, including examples of small, medium, and large case studies of people movement through complex buildings. Examples will be presented in three-dimensional imaging using the pedestrian modeling software MassMotion.

Presented by various experts on behalf of Royal Architectural Institute of Canada (RAIC).
