Background: Michael J. Graham is a member of the Association of State Flood Plain Managers, board
member of New Jersey Association of Floodplain Managers, member of the American Society Of Civil Engineers ASCE 24-98 Committee on Flood Resistant Design and Construction, member of the Building Officials Association of Florida, technical advisory member of FLASH (Federal Alliance for safe homes) and Certified Flood Plain Manager with the Association of State Floodplain Managers.
Michael has worked in the manufacturing private sector for the past 25 years. His experience has been in bringing innovative products through manufacturing, testing, certification, and marketing. For the past Five years he has studied the science of flood mitigation while directing a team of Engineers through design, manufacturing, and testing of Foundation Flood Venting products under the auspices of the ICC and FEMA. In coordination with FEMA and the National Evaluation Service, Michael and his team, designed a full scale flood testing facility to replicate building code requirements in flooding conditions, including establishing test criteria for a never before tested category, Foundation Flood Vents. Attained certification of products through the ICC and NES evaluation service. Michael is currently the Vice President of Operations /General Manager of SmartVENT® Inc. Their mission is to reduce the risk associated with flooding through education and pre-disaster mitigation.
