Since North America’s post-war building boom, the unique characteristics of gypsum board have served the needs of builders well. Now, with environmental concerns directing many design decisions, how does gypsum board respond? This course looks at how gypsum board contributes to sustainably designed buildings, ensuring healthy indoor air and low waste.
Upon completion of this course, the Learner should be able to:
- List the aspects of gypsum manufacturing that contribute to environmental sustainability.
- Describe two ways in which gypsum board uses recycled content.
- Recall how gypsum board should be transported, stored, handled, installed and maintained in order to eliminate the chance of mold and mildew.
- Describe three ways to eliminate or reuse cut-off waste.

Amy also manages the efforts of a team of Construction Design Managers who serve as the face and voice of NGC’s innovative line of paper-faced and fiberglass mat gypsum mold and moisture management strategies.
