Upon completion of this course, the Learner should be able to:
- Describe protective roof coatings in terms of their purpose, benefits, and performance characteristics.
List the various types of cool roof coatings available, and identify the roof types that are suitable for these coatings.
Define roof asset management and its importance in terms of proactive vs. reactive costs, such as energy costs, poor IAQ, mold remediation, etc.
Identify the characteristics that constitute a cool roof and how these translate into both indoor and outdoor environmental benefits.
Describe both green building and roofing industry initiatives in terms of guidelines and certification programs directed towards methods of evaluating and labeling roofing products.

Title: Sales Manager, KST, UNIFLEX Roof Coatings Group A Business Unit of The Sherwin-Williams Co.
Background: Kathy Schoch began her roof coating career with Uniflex (KST Coatings) in 1988 after graduating from The Ohio State University. At the time, Asphalt Aluminum Roof Coatings were the standard reflective roof coating and White Elastomeric Roof Coatings were just being introduced in the market. Since then, the Reflective Roof Coating Systems industry has experienced substantial acceptance and growth. In 2005, the Sherwin Williams Co., based out of Cleveland, OH acquired KST Coatings. Kathy's experience includes Technical Sales and Marketing. Currently she is a Sales Manager with Sherwin Williams.
