eBidservices.com 'On Demand' Bidding Service Will Disrupt the Construction Industry To Make it More Efficient and Ethical

June 27, 2006

HUDSONVILLE, Mich., June 26 /PRNewswire/ -- eBidservices released their next generation website for the construction industry. It offers a project plan source and online bidding service for architects, engineers, owners, construction managers, governments and contractors. The website will eliminate the waste of thousands of dollars, per project, as well as promote ethics in the bidding process. The Internet website is used to submit projects online. This includes all drawings and specifications. Projects are posted for bid as public or private (invitation only) with the due date and time determined by the owner/architect. Contractors access the projects online. They view or download the drawings free of charge and only the specific ones they require. For example, a concrete subcontractor does not have to order an entire set of plans that can cost him hundreds of dollars if he is not interested in the roofing or other drawings. "A practice in other Internet bidding is reverse auction," from "Ethics in Construction Bidding: Considering the Friedman vs. the Freeman View" by William Moylan, Ph.D., PMP, FESD, Instructor, Construction Management Programs, Eastern Michigan University. "Although not illegal, it is considered unethical and detrimental to all involved. It starts out the bid process with a fixed price and forces the contractors to keep lowering their viewable bids. Forcing companies to risk performing their work without regard to their profit potential has a serious downside. They may cut corners in their construction to avoid losing money. It destroys the partnership aspect of construction projects and creates adversarial relationships between owners and contractors."
