New Metal Roof Systems Training Tool

August 29, 2006

Two leading industry organizations, the National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA) and the Metal Construction Association (MCA) applied their expertise to jointly produce an excellent worker training DVD called Mastering the Craft: The Essentials of Metal Roof Systems The training tool is designed to develop a greater understanding of the variety of metal roof systems in today’s market and the fundamentals of installing them. Available in English and Spanish, this DVD offers contractors and installers an introduction to the various metals, finishes, and coatings; panel types; basic flashing techniques, including valley installation; metal roof safety measures; and how to handle metal roof panels on the jobsite. The DVD was shot on location and shows actual jobsite installations. Todd Miller, President of Classic Metal Roof Systems, helped put the program together. “This is an effective video for metal roofing manufacturers and suppliers to provide to contractors who want to know more about metal roofing. Metal roofing contractors also can use it as a tool for recruiting new installers – as a way of letting them know what they’ll be doing. For contractors with formal training programs, it’s a great primer on metal roofing and an appropriate part of any training library. As a manufacturer of metal roofing, we purchased several copies for distribution to our dealers who have used them as installer recruitment tools.” Classic Metal Roof Systems, located in Piqua, is an MCA member. The DVD is designed to be a valuable resource for new employees as well as experienced workers.
