Gov. Corzine to Address 22 Newark Worker Graduates From Green Collar Jobs Training Course, Pilot Program With City of Newark NEWARK, N.J., April 24 /PRNewswire/ -- A significant milestone will be celebrated on Monday as the first participants of a Newark-based initiative that prepares workers for green collar jobs in urban communities get set to graduate from their initial training program. Twenty-two Newark residents and workers now have the skills and training necessary to work in the new environmentally friendly construction industry and in retro-fitting or upgrading existing buildings. These men and women were recruited as part of a weatherization pilot program between the Laborers' International Union of North America (LIUNA) and the City of Newark. The two entities launched the initiative in January 2009 in anticipation of federal stimulus funds for residential weatherization and energy conservation. The graduation will be held Monday, April 27 at 6:30 p.m. ET at the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church in Newark.
