L.B. Foster Rail Products Awarded $6.5 Million Chicago Transit Authority Contract

Dearborn Subway Project Fast Tracked with Expedited L.B. Foster Product Deliveries PITTSBURGH, July 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The Rail Products business unit of Pittsburgh, PA based L.B. Foster Company has received a $6.5 million contract for transit rail and associated rail products for use on Chicago Transit Authority's (CTA) Dearborn Subway Project. L.B. Foster has begun delivery of 80ft rail sections, direct fixation (DFF) fasteners, insulated joints and contact rail insulators for the construction on the long delayed project which will modernize the subway to eliminate slow zones on CTA's Blue Line. The Dearborn Subway Project is being fast tracked with deliveries of L.B. Foster's 115RE HH rail, DFF and other rail products to be completed by September 2009. "We quickly gained materials approval and expedited product manufacturing to meet the critical construction schedule," said Joe Mahoney, L.B. Foster Rail Products Regional Manager, Midwest District. The Rail Products group is successfully employing just in time deliveries from its various facilities to meet all project deadlines. The project is scheduled to complete construction in December 2009. The Dearborn Subway is one of many major Chicago Transit-Authority projects to use L.B. Foster products.
