Sun Design Remodeling Team Receives 'Green Professional' and 'Aging in Place' Certifications

July 22, 2009

BURKE, Va., July 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Sun Design Remodeling Specialists, Inc., based in Burke, Va., has received two new certifications that recognize its excellence in "green" design and construction and for helping clients remodel their homes to age in place. Craig Durosko, president, has been awarded the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) Certified Green Professional designation. This recognizes builders, remodelers and other industry professionals who incorporate green building principles into homes -- without driving up the cost of construction, according to NAHB. Durosko said, "Sun Design has worked with many of its clients to incorporate green principals using sustainable materials and energy friendly products and methods. I am very excited to receive this designation." Mindy Mitchell, design consultant at Sun Design, has been awarded the Certified Aging in Place (often called "universal design") Specialist (CAPS) certification. CAPS recognizes the technical, business management, and customer service skills essential for home modifications for the aging in place. According to NAHB, aging in place means remaining in one's home safely, independently, and comfortably, regardless of age, income, or ability level. It enables people to live in a familiar environment late into life and "the reassurance of being able to call a house a 'home' for a lifetime."
