ENVIROGLAS WOWS IKEA CUSTOMERS

July 23, 2009

IKEA Frisco customers are getting the opportunity to check out recycled glass and porcelain flooring tiles and countertops made from Dallas based manufacture, EnviroGLAS. The recent flooring and countertop installation in IKEA's kitchen and bath kiosk #41 and #46, is all part of the global retailer's new environmentally friendly product line. EnviroGLAS founder and CEO, Tim Whaley, "We are extremely proud to be a part of IKEA's sustainable product line. Their passion to teach and communicate the importance of green initiatives with their customers truly reflects IKEA's commitment to the environment." EnviroPLANK flooring tiles and EnviroSLAB countertops are made from unique mixtures of recycled glass; including recycled beer bottles, car windshields and plate and stained glass windows. Additional aggregate options include reflective mirror, mother-of-pearl and recycled porcelain called EnviroMODE - made from pre-consumer recycled Kohler(R) toilets and sinks. In addition to the showcase rooms, EnviroGLAS has provided product swatches to view in a wide variety of aggregate and resin colors. One may even custom color the resin binder to match a paint swatch. EnviroGLAS products are truly unique. April Berg, Public Relations and Marketing Manager of IKEA Frisco, "IKEA's vision is to create a better everyday life for the many people, and a big part of this vision is our commitment to the environment. The aim is to make products which have minimum impact on the environment, and to manufacture them in a socially responsible way. EnviroGLAS was a natural fit for us with this same philosophy in mind." Other EnviroGLAS products include EnviroSCAPE landscape aggregate, which is used as decorative mulch – quite stunning! EnviroGLAS products not only look good, they are low maintenance, extremely durable, have a lifecycle of over 40 years and contribute to 8 or more LEED credits. EnviroGLAS founder Tim Whaley has over a decade of experience in the Terrazzo industry. His products were voted "2008 and 2009 Contractor's Choice Top Products" by Concrete Contractor Magazine, plus, he received the "2008 Greater DFW Recycling Alliance Environmental Award" and the "2008 North Texas Corporate Recycling Award" for EnviroMODE.
