Trespa Design Centre in Soho to Exhibit 'Models of Concern' from Amsterdam, October 5 - 25, 2009

September 23, 2009

NEW YORK, Sept. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Trespa Design Centre has announced the U.S. debut of the highly regarded "Models of Concern" exhibit this October 5, 2009, along with related seminars, at the New York gallery. Recently on display at the Hong Kong Design Centre where it received more than 10,000 visitors, the exhibit will appeal to art enthusiasts, interior designers, architects, and the public at large. According to Darlene Byrne, Marketing Manager with program host Trespa North America of Poway, Calif., "'Models of Concern' explores the use of scale models in the design process, with 30-plus unique models on display by the noted Dutch designer, Gilian Schrofer. The models include a sneak peek at the highly anticipated renovation of the Stedelijk Museum, where the exhibit originated." The three-week exhibit will be unveiled at a VIP opening party on Monday, October 5, 6:00pm. (Registered members of the press may preview the exhibit that day at 5:15pm and attend the party.) According to Schrofer, physical scale models are the best way to design effectively and to allow the client to clearly understand the design idea. "Nothing works better for designers than to experience their work as realistically as possible - to almost crawl in, occupy and stroll around it," he says. Schrofer will lead a seminar on October 22, 6pm, on this subject. Two other public talks scheduled during the exhibition - all AIA-registered courses - include a lively overview of Dutch design trends by Ingeborg de Roode, Curator of Industrial Design for the Stedelijk Museum on October 6, and a look at computer modeling tools by Winka Dubbeldam of Archi-Tectonics, New York City, October 14. The exhibit and all talks are open to the public, and take place at Trespa Design Centre, 62 Greene St., in New York City's Soho. (Press attendees pre-register with Julia Ginocchio at C.C.
