Tollefsen was awarded the title at the taping of the show's finale party on location at the host community, Compass Pointe, on Saturday, October 3rd. The 46 year old designer, a graduate of East Carolina University, used her broad experience, unique creative vision and strong network of supporters to secure the win. "I knew I had a solid vision, but there's no way I could have accomplished it without all the help I had from my friends in executing my design," said Tollefsen. "I'm still amazed at how many people voted for me! I didn't realize I had such a large base that appreciated my work and believed so strongly in me. It's just wonderful!" The show presents unique Internet-based programming, giving seven interior designers the opportunity to decorate the primary living areas of seven new model homes within a single new home community - all within a set budget. Viewers follow the designers' progress through weekly webisodes, blogs and journals. The winning design is ultimately chosen by the public's vote. Tollefsen was selected from over 200 applicants from across the country. As the winning designer, she walks away with a $25,000 cash prize. Since the show first premiered on June 15th, the online competition has drawn over 100,000 unique viewers from across the country, primarily through its grass roots word-of-mouth marketing efforts.
