Governor to Announce Creation of 'Green City' in Maryland

On Monday, November 30, Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley, Congressman Steny Hoyer, representatives of American Community Properties Trust (ACPT) and other partners will announce the creation of a "Green City" in St. Charles County, Maryland. Located only 22 miles from the White House, it will be an international model of how to design and build an economically vibrant and environmentally sustainable community. In addition, thousands of existing homes will be retrofitted to take advantage of current and future green technologies and services. When complete, the community will include nearly 25,000 homes and nine million square feet of industrial, commercial and retail space. The news conference giving details about the transformation of St. Charles, Maryland into a Green City will take place at noon on Nov. 30 at 10440 O'Donnell Place in St. Charles, Maryland, 20603. The office building is the future corporate home of ACPT, and is located just off of Smallwood Drive West, next to Boston's Restaurant.
