Caterpillar's Singapore Reman Facility Receives Prestigious Award From the Building Construction Authority

JURONG TOWNSHIP, Singapore, June 3 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Caterpillar Inc.'s (NYSE:CAT) recently constructed remanufacturing and components facility in Singapore has received the "Green Mark Gold Plus" award from the country's Building Construction Authority (BCA). Each year, the BCA honors the "most outstanding builders, developers, architects and engineers' contributions toward shaping an excellent environment in Singapore." The Green Mark Gold Plus award is heavily focused on the environmentally sustainable aspects of the facility. Green Mark Gold Plus requires a 25 percent reduction in energy consumption that has been achieved by the building design, materials used and equipment efficiency. Other sustainable features of the facility include: - Insulated metal cladding for the facade and roof - Recycled materials used for construction and office products - Energy efficient lighting and drainage systems - Rainwater harvesting tank for the ability to use recycled water for the remanufacturing process, irrigation and flushing Caterpillar's remanufacturing operations return end-of-life components to their original "same-as-new" condition in terms of reliability, durability and performance. Remanufacturing reduces waste and minimizes the need for raw materials to produce new parts.
