JUAN MANUEL PALERM SALAZAR – BUILT LANDSCAPES

May 23, 2014

Appointment in Verona with a LECTIO MAGISTRALIS by the Spanish architect Banca Popolare di Verona Conference Room on Saturday 24 May 2014 at 10.00 Verona, May 2014 - On Saturday 24 May 2014 at 10.00 a.m., the Banca Popolare di Verona Conference Room in Via San Cosimo 10 will host the Lectio Magistralis by Spanish architect Juan Manuel Palerm Salazar with the title “Built Landscapes”. The event is part of the cycle of events involving international personalities titled "Landscape Saturdays" organised by the Order of Architects, Planners, Landscapers and Conservationists of the Province of Verona and is shared with Veronafiere in continuity with Marmomacc's own 'Lectio Magistralis' events, in collaboration with the Department of Art Museums and Monuments of Verona City Council. The work of Juan Manuel Palerm Salazar, partner since 1986 with Leopoldo Tabares de Nava in the "Palerm & Tabares de Nava Arquitectos" Studio, places special attention on aspects of the place and local area where architecture must reassess its relationship with the landscape amidst natural and urban elements as part of the language of architecture itself. The relationship between city-project and local area-landscape in the architecture of Palerm & Tabares de Nava consequently emerges as a duality seeking for equilibrium in the face of differences of scale and sites. The Lectio Magistralis will be opened by welcome speeches by Verona City Council, Veronafiere and Verona Order of Architects, and will be introduced by Alberto Vignolo, editor of "Architetti Verona" and presenter Anna Merci. The lecture will be followed by the presentation of the New Italian Blood Landscape Award 2013 for under-36 landscape architects.
