The Lightning Protection Institute is a nationwide not-for-profit organization founded in 1955 to promote lightning protection education, awareness and safety. LPI membership is comprised of manufacturers, contractors, scientists, architects, engineers, insurance representatives and safety directors – who are dedicated to ensuring that today’s lightning protection systems provide the best possible quality in both materials and installation practices for maximum safety of people and property.
Education of consumers is an important goal of the LPI. This is done through public service announcements; information available on our website – www.lightning.org; professionally designed brochures; newspaper, radio and television advertising and placement of feature articles in national magazines.
The organization also provides its members with the latest scientifically proven technologies and methods in the industry through various publications, e-blasts, seminars and conferences.
The LPI Certification Program is a battery of exams that assures participants are knowledgeable about proper design, installation and inspection of lightning protection systems according to the National Safety Standards (NFPA 780, UL 96A and LPI 175). |
