Unfortunately, gun violence is a reality, and design strategies must be employed to ensure a suitable level of protection and safety. This course addresses bullet-resistant fiberglass composite panels and the need for architectural armoring. The course discusses ballistic material testing and standards, the types of ballistic materials available, and fiberglass composite panel applications and installation considerations.

Upon completion of this course, the Learner should be able to:

• Recall the various factors that contribute to the current need for architectural armoring.
• Employ knowledge of ballistic material testing and standards to develop bullet-resistant architectural strategies for increased security.
• Describe how fiberglass composite panels mitigate ballistic threat and the advantages they have over other bullet-resistant materials.
• Explain the measures taken during the installation of fiberglass composite panels in order to ensure a safe, effective building project.
