Emphasizes thermoplastic roofing as a component of sustainable high performance buildings and highlights some of the areas where they may help with LEED certification. Provides a sample calculation of cool roofing energy savings utilizing an on-line calculator.

  • Recognize the major attributes of cool roofing.
  • Identify some of the key criteria to consider when selecting a roofing system for high performance buildings.
  • Be able to summarize the characteristics of thermoplastic single-ply roofing and compare and contrast PVC's and TPO's.
  • Understand how cool roofing plays an important role in sustainable building design.
