The materials we use have a big impact on the environment, our communities and our health. To select materials wisely, we have to know what's in them and what effects they have before, during and after their use. This course will focus on the key drivers in the market on material health and disclosure, types or reporting tools and what the differences are between them.

Upon completion of this course, the Learner should be able to:

  • USGBC seems to be heading this movement, lets discuss the difference between LEED v3 (2009) and LEED v4 related to materials credits.
  • Understand what online resources do project teams have to research and document building products.
  • What does material health and product transparency mean? What's driving this change? we will explain the foundation of this and the supporting documents around them.
  • Explain what types of reporting tools exist, what they are telling us and how this is driving innovation and market transformation.
