This course will teach the end user about corrosion, the causes and effects of it on the look, function, and lifespan of a door. It also provides an overview on how design and material choices can help offset the negative effect of corrosion and create a long lasting, functional entryway and exit.
Upon completion of this course, the Learner should be able to:
Review common door application that create environments which can be highly corrosive to doors.
Appreciate the corrosive agents unique to these applications and their effects upon materials commonly used in the fabrication of doors.
Understand the causes and types of corrosion that are relevant to door materials and the methods used to increase corrosion resistance.
Understand the relationship between door design and fabrication methods and corrosion resistance.
Review selection criteria for specifying doors for corrosive locations.
