Hold It Together: Smarter Wall Assembly Design

Hold It Together: Smarter Wall Assembly Design

This course provides participants with a practical understanding of how building envelope performance has evolved and what drives high performance construction today. Attendees will learn how to interpret building codes related to water, air, thermal, and vapor control layers and gain insight into the building science principles that inform those requirements. The course explores integrated system approaches that move beyond prescriptive solutions to improve envelope performance, durability, and constructability. Participants will also evaluate how cladding attachment systems affect the overall envelope and learn to recognize common pitfalls that can compromise performance if not properly addressed.

Upon completion of this course, the Learner should be able to:

  • Explore construction efficiency progress over the last 50+ years, and challenges facing construction today.
  • Interpret codes for building envelope control layers: water, air, thermal, vapor.
  • Understand the science behind the codes.
  • Discover alternative integrated system approach to achieve high performance envelope.
  • Evaluate how cladding attachments impact the envelope and pitfalls to avoid.

Approximately 1 hour. Delivered via webinar or face-to-face presentation. Available sessions shown below.
