Exterior Aluminum Cladding Systems
Exterior Aluminum Cladding Systems
In this course regarding Division 07 Aluminum Cladding, we will provide details about the different devices used to both aid in sun control and add to the design aesthetics. We will review the materials used, with a focus on aluminum and its properties. We will also focus on finish options, like powder coating, anodizing, and Kynar and how each can be applied to aluminum. We will review the sustainability of the materials and go over systems and design planning.
Upon completion of this course, the Learner should be able to:
Attendees will learn the properties of Aluminum and discuss the method in which aluminum is extruded, the corrosion resistance aluminum has, how it fairs in exposure to the elements and the recyclability of aluminum. In addition to those factors, we will touch on the aluminum grade selection as well.
Attendees will understand design planning and the different systems used, such as wall panel systems, batten systems and soffit systems. They will learn about the difference between plank and battens systems, and will understand the environmental impact using these systems can have on the inside of the building, both aesthetically and in terms of energy conservation. By providing guidance and detailed information, we can make sure the design intent is achieved and HSW measures are designed accurately.
Attendees will learn what the different finishes are and what benefits each of them has. Attendees will also learn about which finishes are safest for the environment and the applicators. We will focus on how each finish applies to aluminum and the specific HSW notes associated with each finish. We will show examples of each finish and go into depth about the process of creating the finish and maintaining the look.
Attendees will complete the course by learning about the sustainability of aluminum along with the cradle to cradle concept. We will also discuss biophilic designs in architecture and how they have an impact on improving health and welfare.
