Low-Slope Roof Deck System

This course focuses on design considerations for commercial low-slope roof deck systems and the selection of appropriate roofing assemblies. Common low-slope roofing types are reviewed, with an emphasis on the characteristics, performance attributes, and applications of TPO and PVC membrane roofing systems. The benefits of using an insulated metal panel (IMP) roofing system are examined, including thermal performance, energy efficiency, installation advantages, and long-term durability. Support structure requirements and roof deck considerations are discussed, along with key environmental control layers such as air, vapor, water, and thermal barriers. Code compliance requirements related to weather resistance, thermal performance, fire safety, and wind uplift are addressed. The program concludes with a review of product and installation warranties, including weather-tightness and system performance considerations.
