Description: Living walls not only add beauty to a space, but also can help to reduce energy consumption, minimize environmental impacts, and create healthier interior and exterior environments. This course compares the design and construction of different types of living walls and provides an overview of the factors to consider to ensure a healthy, thriving living wall is installed and maintained.

Name: Robert Shade
Title: Project Manager, Green Living Technologies International LLC
Robert Shade (Rob) is a seasoned living wall and green roof specialist. He started working with GLTI as an apprentice 5 years ago, learning the industry from the manufacturing sector of GLTI’s facility. Due to his ability to effectively apply the skills he learned as an apprentice, he was promoted to field installer. In this role he would eventually learn all aspects of the GLTI family of products including, green walls, green roofs, and vertical farms, from manufacturing, installation, irrigation, lighting and maintenance. He has also overseen GLTI’s vertical farming operations for herbs and medical cannabis. Rob recently was responsible for two more iconic GLTI projects including a 6500 square foot living wall in downtown Toronto and the “batters’ eye”, a 3500 square foot living wall in center field for the Minnesota Twins, touted as the greenest ball park in America. In his current role, Rob travels throughout the US and overseas, where he works with the ProStaff teams to provide support on projects, including insuring that the installations are done based on the correct specifications, and helping new installers become more comfortable with larger projects.
