Upon completion of this course, the Learner should be able to:

  • Explore and compare the various types of door interlocking systems to gain a complete understanding of their intended uses.
  • General design considerations to include: floor plan layout, traffic flow, door relationships, level of security, environmental concerns, equipment selection and programming.
  • Outline and recognize how these door interlocks interface with various site-specific requirements to include: access control systems, life safety, automatic door operators, anti-tailgate controls, traffic lights and metal detectors.
  • Discuss related hardware components required for a completely operational and functional system.
