VectorWorks Architect Used to Create Virtual Tour of Grays of Westminster

February 19, 2008

Columbia, Maryland (February 18, 2008) - U.K. architect and photographer Michael Eleftheriades has created a virtual tour of Grays of Westminster-a unique period shop in London, England, specializing in Nikon equipment-using a technique incorporating VectorWorks Architect architectural design software. "I decided that the best way to approach the virtual tour of Grays of Westminster from the user perspective would be to include plans of the spaces, created using VectorWorks Architect," says Eleftheriades. "This was not only to display the relationship of the spaces to each other, but also to reinforce the idea that, collectively, they are all essential parts of the whole environment." The rooms were measured in detail, and two- and three-dimensional isometric "cut-away" projections were constructed in VectorWorks. These were exported to Adobe Illustrator(r) and then to Adobe Photoshop(r), where the interactive logic was created. The photographs, all taken using Nikon digital SLR cameras, were post-processed in Photoshop Camera RAW and additional image manipulation was done in Photoshop. The images were stitched in Realviz Stitcher Unlimited. The images were exported as optimized cubic QuickTime(r) movies and can be viewed on the virtual tour either via the Adobe Flash(r) or Apple QuickTime plug-ins. The virtual tour can be viewed at: http://redirect.aecdaily.com/s18122/www.graysofwestminster.co.uk/tour/ A veteran VectorWorks user for 20 years, Eleftheriades heads Media Synthesis, a London-based media consulting and design firm.
