CSI Academies CSI Webinar: Sharing Information Electronically during Construction Administration
April 17, 2-3:30pm ET

The volume of documentation created during the Construction Administration phase of a project can be overwhelming. Managing the CA process during construction and accessing information during the project and after completion can be time intensive. To assist with the management of information, some firms use Web-based services, or in-house Project Information Management (PIM) software. This webinar will review some of the functions to consider when evaluating Web-based and in-house PIM systems. Hardware requirements and software performance will be reviewed and compared to Web subscription services. Site Administration for security of site information along with managing site access by internal and external team members will be reviewed.

The Nuts and Bolts of Smart Buildings
April 22, 2-3:30pm ET

The smart buildings program provides simple, straight forward information on smart buildings for designers and contractors. The program covers the economics, and the basic design and specification foundations, technology systems, and management systems associated with integrated building systems. Session participants will learn the systems that should be part of a smart building, and the design, specification and installation issues related to the infrastructure of a smart building. Beyond the technical aspects of smart buildings, participants will learn how to cost justify the smart building approach to the client, and how to get the design team on board for doing something slightly different. A case study will be used to illustrate how the team, the client and the technology come together to design and specify a smart building. Click here to learn more or register now for this webinar.

CADdetails

CADdetails.com | designing in 3D

SketchUp is a 3D modeling program designed for professional architects, civil engineers, filmmakers, game developers, and related professions. It was designed to be more intuitive, flexible, and easy-to-use than other 3D modeling programs, which often have steep learning curves. Several features allow designers to "play" with their designs, unlike what is possible in other 3D CAD programs. It is marketed as an easy-to-use conceptual tool with a simple interface.

Over the next few months, CADdetails 3D library will be expanding to include a wide array of manufactured products. Designers will be able to view and download 3D models, CAD details, full scale product drawings, 3-part specifications, product catalogs and cut sheets, all in one place, in one industry-standard format!
