CSI Webinar: Daylighting and Advanced Fenestration Technology
March 25, 3-4pm ET

Daylighting is an important element in architectural design, especially with today's increased focus on sustainable design, energy efficiency and ever stricter building codes. The challenge for architects is to balance aesthetics with the need for maximum daylighting while meeting the tighter standards for building and energy code requirements. Learn more, or register.
CSI Webinar: Preliminary Project Description Fundamentals
April 13, 2-3pm ET

Are you ready for the new PPD and UniFormat? In 2010, the Construction Specifications Institute will issue a new Preliminary Project Description Guide and a new consensus-based UniFormat. Organized according to UniFormat, Preliminary Project Descriptions are the most effective way to describe a project during the schematic design phase of a project. PPDs organized according to UniFormat include a description of the project by elements (substructure, shell and interiors) versus work results (CSI MasterFormat numbers). With the advent of BIM and its built-in UniFormat numbering, designers and specifiers find PPDs a great tool to document the project during the schematic design phase of a project, especially for improving communication with cost estimators who already use UniFormat to model costs on nearly every project. This webinar will highlight the major updates from earlier PPD versions, show you how to develop a master PPD for your own firm, even how to translate between UniFormat and MasterFormat. Finally, a new national standard for PPDs in schematic design emerges! This workshop is designed for project architects, specifiers and cost estimators at all levels of experience with Preliminary Project Descriptions. Learn more, or register now.
