Marketing Tips Provided by Architect Profits
Tip #10 - Playing Hard To Get This one goes hand in hand with being an authority; you also need to create a “wizard” status to explain that it is not 100% positive that the client will be able to benefit from your expertise. Since you’ve already established that you are the authority, it is now time to show that you don’t work on all projects and neither do you work with everybody that comes your way. Maintenance of the “wizard” status is by always being ahead of the pack with how the latest benefits of any new development in architecture really apply to what clients want, not your peer, to increase the “I want you and only you” factor. Tools to use: You need to project the image that you don’t need nor will you see just any client that walks in off the street (neither should you ever be in such a position). Amongst other things, the “wizard” status is developed with tools such as an “application” required for entry into the practice (information that you will use to know more about the client), a consultation packet (to show that you are the authority), a sales packet (to put down all the possible walls), other architect’s endorsements, and client testimonials are all things that will position you well beyond the “average” architect down the street. When a client remarks on any of these things, reinforce it with a “you’re right, we’re not like all the rest” statement.

Sept. 21 Webinar - Guide Specifications: A Marketing Tool for Manufacturers and Sales Reps Building product manufacturers often provide guide specs to specifiers for use as starting points in the writing of project specifications. A simple guide spec is a useful tool, but much more can be accomplished when a manufacturer understands the guide spec’s potential. A well-crafted guide spec, employing CSI’s principles of specifying, can educate the design professional, hold the keys to successful installation, and build trust between the manufacturer and the design team. This course, led by two experienced specifiers with expertise in guide specification writing, will help suppliers identify whether a guide spec would be a valuable addition to the product literature. The course will offer insight into preparing documents that will be valuable to design professionals, contractors, and customers. Learn more or register.
