January 10, 2013

Larkspur designed by Larry Kornegay wins design award Kalamazoo, MI – Landscape Forms, the industry’s premier global brand of outdoor furniture, LED lighting and accessories is pleased to announce that The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies, and The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design, have awarded Landscape Forms a 2012 GOOD DESIGN™ Award for Larkspur designed by Larry Kornegay. Kornegay is an acknowledged master in the design and production of cast concrete planters for outdoor environments. Larkspur planters are elegant in proportion, subtle in contour and commanding in presence. Like their namesake flower, these planters are products of nature and no two are exactly the same. Unlike synthetic materials, the surface of cast concrete responds to qualities inherent in the natural materials of which it is composed, imparting individuality in surface qualities that give each Larkspur planter its own character and visual interest. The GOOD DESIGN program was founded in Chicago in 1950 by Eero Saarinen, Charles and Ray Eames and Edgar Kaufmann, Jr.. The awards aim to give international recognition for designers and manufacturers when they devise innovative products, through invention and originality, beyond what is considered ordinary product and consumer design. One of the main factors for the awards selection is based on whether or not a product can enrich society and people's lives through its design.
