Pilkington’s new tint, Graphite Blue, expands the possibilities for architectural design and creativity. Toledo, Ohio – Pilkington North America is proud to announce the development of Graphite Blue, a light blue-grey tint. The new body-tinted solar control glass offers high daylight transmittance with a soft blue-grey tone. This tint is the perfect addition to the Pilkington Optifloat™ family of tinted glass – which includes Green, Blue-Green, Bronze and Grey. Our Graphite Blue tint offers flexibility for original and innovative architectural design where low reflection is required. With high daylight transmittance and energy absorption, it is suitable for any commercial application requiring solar control. To achieve additional thermal insulation, Pilkington Optifloat™ Graphite Blue can be combined with Pilkington Energy Advantage™ low-e glass in an insulating glass unit. Pilkington Optifloat™ Graphite Blue is available in 6mm, 8mm and 10mm thicknesses. The Graphite Blue substrate is also available with the Pilkington Solar-E™ Plus solar control pyrolytic coating. Pilkington Solar-E™ Plus Graphite Blue is the perfect solution for enhanced solar and thermal control, reduced glare, and low ultraviolet (UV) transmittance. Pilkington Solar-E™ Plus Graphite Blue is coated using a pyrolytic or “hard coat” process. The pyrolytic process allows for the coating to be chemically-bonded to the glass at the molecular level while the glass is still in the semi-molten stage. Pilkington Solar-E™ Plus coating is durable and can be easily handled, transported and processed, including tempering and bending. Due to the durability of the pyrolytic coating, it does not degrade over time, which gives the product a virtually unlimited shelf-life.
